The National Leader of the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan made a working visit to our capital and held a business meeting

Today evening, the working visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates ended. The 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) is being held here.

As previously reported, this large forum, which will last until December 12 of this year, will be attended by many representatives from different countries of the world, including heads of state and government, heads of neighboring state structures, international organizations, experts, civil society, business groups, mass media. representatives of the media and young people participate.

Speaking at the UN World Climate Summit yesterday, the Turkmen leader emphasized that he considers Turkmenistan's participation in this conference as a milestone in advancing its international strategy on climate change. As mentioned, the National Strategy on Climate Change, adopted in 2012, became the starting point for Turkmenistan's full integration into the global climate agenda. Then, in connection with the country's accession to the Paris climate agreement, a new edition of this Strategy was approved.

The President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that as a responsible state, Turkmenistan understands the need to continue the goal-oriented work at the international and national levels. That work will help ensure further progress in combating climate change and its consequences.

From the podium of the high-level forum, the Turkmen leader said that the country, which continuously contributes to international efforts to reduce methane emissions, joins the commitment of the nation to methane and will continue active cooperation with international organizations and partner countries to solve climate problems.

As it is known, with the accession of our country to the Paris climate agreement, several relevant national programs were adopted. Accordingly, measures aimed at reducing the emission of methane into the environment and eliminating their negative effects are being implemented. It is, first of all, about the gradual transition and use of environmentally friendly, resource-saving modern technologies, especially in the energy, industrial and transport sectors. Also, in his speech at the forum, the President of Turkmenistan emphasized the importance of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the UN Environment Program for the development of regional programs on November 13 of this year. Those regional programs are aimed at transferring air technologies to Turkmenistan and Central Asian countries. It was noted that this document is considered as a first step and a fundamental legal requirement for Turkmenistan to consider in detail the issue of opening a UN Regional Center for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia.

Documenting Turkmenistan's commitment to continuing and strengthening international cooperation for a happy and prosperous future of the planet, documents prepared at the high-level multilateral meeting, in particular, the Declaration on Climate and Health, the Declaration on Sustainable Agriculture, Sustainable Food Systems and Combating Climate Change He supported his campaign as well as several initiatives, including the COP28 coalition for high-level, multi-level cooperation to combat climate change.

As you know, our country has ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement, and has consistently fulfilled its obligations over the past years. The approved National Climate Change Strategy envisages the implementation of systematic measures aimed at reducing the amount of harmful emissions in all sectors, first of all, in the oil and gas, transport, electric power sectors, agricultural industry, and construction industry. Great attention is paid to the expansion of international cooperation in this field. Because the solution of ecological problems requires the unification of efforts at the global, regional and national levels, multilateral dialogue, and the actions of each state in this field in coordination with the UN.

Thus, the UN World Climate Summit showed that the world community understands the need to jointly solve the problem of climate change, which has become urgent for all mankind in recent decades, and to implement coordinated political and economic measures against this threat.

Today, during the meeting of the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov with the Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, bilateral and multilateral discussions were held.
